Multi Axis CNC Programmer

MRG is currently looking for a talented CNC Programmer specializing in Multi Axis Machining to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems.
The CNC Programmer will be responsible for providing technical expertise within a team to develop and implement Multi Axis machining process to meet engineering requirements. This position will be required to take ownership of the manufacturing processing for programs from conception to completion.

The CNC Programmer will be responsible for providing technical expertise within a team to develop and implement Multi Axis machining process to meet engineering requirements. This position will be required to take ownership of the manufacturing processing for programs from conception to completion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proficient in 3, 4 & 5-Axis NC programming for machining
- Must be able to program utilizing models and working with multiple axis and limited dimension drawings
- Create detailed work instructions, mfg. sketches, and other shop floor documentation
- Solid troubleshooting ability related to work holding, tool selection, speeds, feeds, etc.
- Understanding of model-based definition and GD&T as well as customer specifications
- Provide shop-floor support as necessary to resolve technical and manufacturing issues.
- Utilize root cause analysis, preventative and corrective action to reduce/eliminate non-conformances
- Candidates must have at least one (1) year of machine tool technology and/or credentials verifying formal training in machining technology.
- Candidates must have at least five (5) years of experience in programming and set up of CNC machines
- Must have at least 8 years of experience working in a machining environment
- Proficient with Mastercam
- Strong with GD&T
- Experience with AS9100 is a plus
- Detail orientated

Key Accountabilities
- Set up and run multiple mid-size CNC machines simultaneously, handling low-production runs with efficiency and accuracy.
- Perform multiple setups throughout the day, adjusting tooling, fixtures, and offsets as needed.
- Make minor program edits to improve efficiency or address machining issues.
- Monitor part quality using precision inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators, etc.).
- Troubleshoot and resolve machining challenges in real time, collaborating with the Lead Machinist and Quality Team when necessary.
- Keep production flowing smoothly while maintaining high standards.
- Adapt quickly to changing priorities and step in wherever needed to meet deadlines.
- Experience running and setting up multiple CNC machines in a production environment.
- Comfortable with low-quantity runs requiring frequent setup changes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T.
- Skilled in precision measuring equipment to verify part quality.
- Basic CNC programming knowledge with the ability to make minor edits.

Key Accountabilities
- Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and material on large CNC machines.
- Set up and operate machines, including large-format CNCs and bridge mills.
- Monitor operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions and make adjustments as needed.
- Use precision gauges (micrometers, calipers, indicators) to inspect and verify critical dimensions.
- Adjust tooling and machine settings to maintain part quality and process consistency.
- Safely and confidently operate a hoist to move and position large parts.
- Demonstrate a commitment to craftsmanship, safety, and continuous improvement.
- 5+ years of experience in a machining environment with large CNC equipment and/or bridge mills.
- Proficiency with Mastercam.
- Strong GD&T interpretation skills.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accountability for quality and schedule adherence.
- Experience working in an AS9100-regulated environment is a plus.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills, a natural problem solver, and a strong finisher.

- Production Runs – A family of parts produced using a proven, established process to ensure consistent, high-quality results. This requires strict adherence to tight tolerance and surface finish requirements.
- Large Frame Project – Picking up on welded features to locate the part, making necessary adjustments, and ensuring machined details are placed in exact locations. This work utilizes Renishaw probing to inspect features and guide accurate machining.
Key Accountabilities
- Operate the Okuma MCR AC5 for both production and large-part machining projects.
- Follow established machining processes to deliver consistent, high-quality parts.
- Write, edit, and optimize CNC programs in Mastercam; test code to verify accuracy and performance.
- Maintain tight tolerance and surface finish requirements.
- Set up and machine large welded frames, using Renishaw probing to pick up features and adjust machining as needed.
- Make targeted program adjustments to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Collaborate with the Quality Team to verify dimensions and resolve issues.
- Manage workflow between two primary projects, maintaining productivity and quality.
- Actively expand programming skills and understanding of machine code and Okuma controls.
- Experience operating and setting up large CNC bridge mills or similar equipment.
- Fluent in Mastercam programming with the ability to test and validate code.
- Fluent in Okuma controls, with strong understanding of machine operations and functions.
- Experience with Renishaw probing for part location, inspection, and feature placement (highly preferred).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T.
- Detail-focused with a strong drive to complete work to the highest standards.
